SUZUKI AERIO
The Aerio sedan debuted in March 2002 as a 2003 model and has since been upgraded with an optional four-wheel-drive system Suzuki calls QuadGrip. For a measly $1000, it can be had on the upscale GS trim level. Low pricing such as this is a primary attraction for this practical, semi-cute little car. But it’s also cleverly designed to provide lots of interior space and a decent amount of cargo capacity. Its 145-horsepower, 2.0-liter in-line four-cylinder engine moves the Aerio around sufficiently, and its fully independent suspension provides agile handling. The engine is coupled to a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic—a driveline which Suzuki boasts is “quiet, capable, and durable.” And it backs up the durable part with a fully transferable, 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty with no deductible.
