SATURN VUE
The Vue, which was introduced in 2002, may be something of a Johnny-come-lately to the small-sport-utility party, but it has some features that can’t be found anywhere else, such as thermoplastic body-side panels—assuring the Vue owner a life free of door dings—and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), an emerging technology aimed at improving fuel economy. The Vue is built in Saturn’s Spring Hill, Tennessee, factory and is crisply styled, much like Saturn’s L- and S-series cars. Both the base 2.2-liter four and the 3.0-liter V-6 are transverse-mounted in a stamped-steel space frame. A hands-free viscous four-wheel-drive system is optional with both engines, though the Czech-built CVT only comes with the four-cylinder. For 2003, the Vue gets a couple of new colors, 3D-look badges, and optional 180-watt sound system.
