LEXUS IS300
The Lexus IS300 is powered by a smooth, 215-horsepower, 3.0-liter in-line six that makes it deceptively quick. With rear-drive, near-50/50 weight distribution, a 105-inch wheelbase, quick steering, low-profile tires, and a control-arm suspension, this car is balanced in a way that front-drive cars can’t match. A smooth-shifting five-speed automatic is standard; a manumatic is optional. Braking is fantastic; handling is supple. This is a fun car with the right credentials—a proper sports sedan. Inside, it has a distinctly un-Lexus high-tech look, with a gauge cluster that resembles a chronograph watch. The only changes for 2003 involve the car’s feet. All-season tires on 17-inch five-spoke alloy wheels are offered, as is a newly designed 17-inch 11-spoke wheel with 215/45 summer or all-season tires. Also new are optional 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/55 all-season tires.
