INFINITI Q45
Since Toyota and Nissan hit the luxury-car market in late 1989 with their Lexus and Infiniti divisions, the flagship Lexus sedan, the LS400, has been a far better seller than Infiniti’s Q45. Last year, Infiniti finally coughed up a Q45 that could give the Lexus a run for the money. The new Q is more stylish, sporting, and luxurious than before. Its styling is wedgy and aggressive, and mechanically it’s right up to the moment with a potent 340-hp, 4.5-liter V-8 that’s complemented by traction control, stability control, and other techno-wonder stuff such as an electronic throttle. Overall, the Q45 offers performance, styling distinction, and equipment levels that deserve any luxury buyer’s serious attention. For 2003 the Q45 gets a 3.13:1 final-drive ratio for better acceleration, some exterior and interior refinements, and various revisions to the standard and optional features list.
