HONDA ODYSSEY
Honda made a host of revisions to the Odyssey last year, so for 2003 the updates are few: an intermittent rear window wiper, auto-up and -down for the driver’s power window, and a new ignition key that discourages copying. Minor changes, yes, but added to the ’02 upgrades it’s easy to understand why we regard this as the best minivan going. Last year Honda bumped the output of the 3.5-liter V-6 from 210 to 240 hp, installed a five-speed automatic, revised the suspension calibrations, freshened the exterior, and added a DVD entertainment option, a feature that’s de rigueur in minivans. Two-stage airbags, plus standard driver and passenger side airbags, enhance the passive-safety quotient, and brakes are discs at all four corners with ABS. A C/D 5Best Trucks winner (van category), the Odyssey is that rarest of minivans—it combines exceptional utility with a high fun-to-drive index.
