CHRYSLER 300M
The name recalls Chrysler’s 300 coupes from the big-inch V-8 era, but this car is aimed at today’s Euro sports-sedan market. The 300M retains pole position as the Chrysler brand’s flagship car, complemented with a nameplate-badged Special edition offering a modicum of more power for the 2003 model year (255 horsepower instead of 250) from the SOHC 24-valve 3.5-liter V-6. The brakes and suspension of the Special also receive a mild upgrade this year. A new grille, sportier front and rear lower fascias, faux carbon-fiber dash trim, xenon headlamps, and dark-gray metallic lower-body cladding complement the package. Also new for 2003 is optional Sirius satellite radio. It offers 100 stations, ranging in specialty from jazz to NASCAR, that come in clearly from coast to coast. With its breezy performance, the 300M rates as one of the best sedans from Detroit.
