CHEVY SILVERADO/GMC SIERRA
Although the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra are basically unchanged for 2003, GM has made a number of detail changes, including freshened front-end styling, a hot-rod Silverado SS edition, and the availability of Quadrasteer four-wheel steering in 1500-series models. Due at mid-year, the SS will be motivated by a high-output Vortec 6.0-liter V-8 (345 hp, 380 lb-ft) and includes all-wheel drive, firmer suspension tuning, and 20-inch wheels. Other updates include XM satellite radio, upgraded entertainment systems, and dual stage airbags. Redesigned on an new hydroformed chassis for 1999, these full-size trucks are still widely regarded as the best. Chevy or GMC, all these trucks offer standard four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, automatic transmissions with a tow-haul mode, the option of four-wheel drive, and a vast range of engine and body choices.
