ACURA 3.5RL
One of the more refined and composed luxury cars going, Acura's 3.5RL sedan enters the 2003 model year fundamentally unchanged, aside from some minor detail updates. Although Acura was the first to establish a credible Asian presence in the luxury-car market, the 3.5RL (nee: Legend) has long been overshadowed by the Lexus LS430, with its V-8 and rear-wheel drive. Acura vainly sought to offset that disparity last year by raising the output of the RL's 3.5-liter DOHC V-6 from 210 to 215 hp and adding more authority via a retuned suspension, more grip in the tires, and more power in the anti-lock brake system. The 3.5RL follows Acura's successful formula of providing a long list of standard luxury features in a single model. The only option is a navigation system. And like other Acuras with this option, the DVD-based nav system integrates OnStar for 2003.
