ACURA 3.2CL
With the mid-’02 addition of a new and effective limited-slip differential to its potent front-drive powertrain, the CL Type-S has become one of the best performance buys in its class. Introduced for 2001, the second-generation CL represents a can’t-lose formula: lots of luxury features at a bargain price. The inventory includes standard heated power-adjustable leather seats, a CD changer, automatic climate control, and a power sunroof. The only option is Acura’s navigation system, enhanced for ’03 by the addition of OnStar. CLs are powered by a 3.2-liter DOHC aluminum V-6: 225 hp in the base car, 260 hp in the Type-S. A five-speed manumatic is standard, and the Type S is available with a very precise close-ratio, six-speed manual. Though it’s still not quite a match for the 3-series BMW, the CL’s combination of economy, performance, value, and reliability is hard to beat.
